We Are Going Back

Brethren, Good News!

A welcomed supportive response from the Chief Health Officer has now given us a clear pathway to a return to lodge.

We now have a clear set of instructions which will govern our return. This clear and precise step process will firstly be applied to each Masonic Centre, and once all Building Owners/Managers have notified the Grand Secretary that they have completed this step, we will then move on to the lodges. Each lodge will then need to commit to a similar and ongoing process.

In this Newsletter, the Chairman BoM has set out the steps we are to take, and only when we have achieved these milestones, will we gain the final approval from the Government authorities.

You would all be aware that Victoria has returned to lockdowns in that State, and it is thought that these new outbreaks have been caused by large family gatherings. The nature of Freemasonry has some similarities as we all regularly travel between lodges to meet with others, many of whom we simply don't know where they have been in the previous few days. In our case, it would be very easy for a Mason to return to his family unit and pass on symptoms of this virus. We must be careful how we manage our activity, respect social distancing and be attentive to our personal behaviour.

The safety of our brethren is paramount.

In the short term, I encourage you all to continue the use of ZOOM for management and business meetings and consider holding small social gatherings over coffee or lunch, perhaps also involving some potential candidates. Please continue to keep gatherings to a minimum and be very conscious to abide by the one person per 4 square metre rule.

I encourage your support in getting us back to business.

The Three Stages

Brethren, as a result of a quick and positive response from the Chief Health Officer, we now have a clear pathway forward and we can hopefully get back to our regular lodge activities in the near future. We envisage that this will take weeks not months but our return will be governed by a 3 stage process with each stage consisting of various steps.

The Grand Master will keep us informed through this newsletter as we progress through each stage and we must keep in mind that we cannot move from one stage to the next until we have all complied with all steps of the current stage. In the meantime, the Board of Management is working on a Social Media Blitz, to promote our return.

I wish you well in your preparation, the Grand Secretary will be in touch with all Building Owners/Managers soon and will assist us as we progress through the various stages.

I am sure that if we all work together we can have a swift return to our regular lodge meetings.

Please, stay safe and look after each other.

RW Bro Les Hicks
Chairman Board of Management

STAGE 1 - PREPARE THE BUILDING

All Masonic Centres are required to register as a COVID Safe business and prepare the building in accordance with steps that will be provided to them by the Grand Secretary.

NOTE: Soon the Grand Secretary will contact all Building Owners/Managers and provide them with the steps required to be completed, once all buildings have been prepared we can then move on to Stage 2.

STAGE 2 - PREPARE YOUR LODGE

Once ALL Masonic Centres have completed Stage 1 it will then be necessary for each lodge to prepare their meeting place (lodge room) in accordance with further steps provided to them by the Grand Secretary.

NOTE: When ALL lodges have completed Stage 2 and following further communication with Chief Health Officer we can then move on to Stage 3.

STAGE 3 - RETURN TO LODGE

Once ALL lodges have completed Stage 2 requirements and after the appropriate communication with the Chief Health Officer has then taken place, the Grand Secretary will advise all lodges that they can return to lodge.

NOTE: The Grand Secretary will provide further advice on any meeting restrictions that may apply as a result of further communication with Chief Health Officer.
