Moving to Stage 2

Brethren,

Allow me to congratulate all those Masonic Centre Management Teams that have now completed our Stage 1 requirements, I thank you all for your support and understanding and, while it has been somewhat of a "Process", it is important that we do this once and we get it right, the brethren's safety is paramount.

I am really pleased to announce that all lodges meeting in Stage 1 compliant Masonic Centres will now receive their Stage 2 checklist from the Grand Secretary. Stage 2 is as simple as registering your lodge as a COVID Safe Business and ticking the boxes to agree that your lodge will follow all safety guidelines. This is a quick and simple process and once completed will see us quickly move on to Stage 3 enabling us to return to lodge under the guidelines announced by the Grand Secretary in the Stage 3 documentation.

Derek Robson AM
Grand Master

The Grand Master regularly offers guidance and instruction to Craft Freemasons, and during these COVID-19 restrictions, this has become a most important responsibility.

The Grand Master has a duty of care to ensure that all places in which we gather meet the strict protocols set by the Health Authorities. It follows that all Craft Freemasons will now meet under a similar set of health and safety guidelines, whenever we meet in the future. Indeed, these guidelines will probably remain in place until a vaccine becomes available.

In the past week, it has been openly stated that 'members of Other Orders can hold their meetings as they see fit, as the Grand Master does not have authority over their organisation'.

The Grand Master has never claimed to have this authority, but you can be assured that he will continue to strive to have all our Craft meeting places meet the guidelines we have been given.

Freemasonry is 'all of one company' and it is important that we all give due consideration to each other's health and personal safety, and to that of our families.

Please continue to stay safe

Moving to Stage 2

Lodges that meet in buildings that are now Stage 1 compliant will soon receive their Stage 2 Checklist, we ask that the Worshipful Master and Lodge Secretary please complete the checklist, sign it, and return it to the Grand Secretary ASAP. Once this has been done the Lodge Secretary will then receive Stage 3 documentation enabling your Lodge to conduct regular meetings.

Non-Compliant Masonic Centres

We do understand that there are some buildings that are unable to satisfy Stage 1 compliance at this time due to building renovations and other issues.

Until such times as those buildings can complete Stage 1 compliance, any lodge that meets at the below listed Masonic Centres will not yet be able to move to Stages 2 and 3 and no masonic activities can take place.

Meeting Places yet to complete Stage 1

Armidale, Balgowlah, Bega, Blackheath, Broken Hill, Collaroy, Concord West, Condobolin, Cronulla, Gosford, Gundagai, Mawson, Moree, Muswellbrook, Oatley, Oberon, Scone, Sutherland, Tamworth, Taree, Turramurra, Uralla, Warners Bay and Wingham.

STAGE 1 - PREPARE THE BUILDING

All Masonic Centres are required to register as a COVID Safe business and prepare the building in accordance with steps that will be provided to them by the Grand Secretary.

NOTE: Once all buildings have been prepared we can then move on to Stage 2.

STAGE 2 - PREPARE YOUR LODGE

Once all Masonic Centres have completed Stage 1 it will then be necessary for each lodge to prepare their meeting place (lodge room) in accordance with further steps provided to them by the Grand Secretary.

NOTE: When all lodges have completed Stage 2 and following further directions from the Government Health Authorities we can then move on to Stage 3.

STAGE 3 - RETURN TO LODGE

Once all lodges have completed Stage 2 requirements and after ensuring we comply with all regulations directed by the authorities, the Grand Secretary will advise all lodges that they can return to lodge.

NOTE: The Grand Secretary will provide further advice on any meeting restrictions that may apply as a result of further directions from the Government Health Authorities.
