Moving Forward

Spring has certainly brought us more change. Here in the city, some quite different daily temperature ranges have certainly challenged us, but how good has it been to see the welcome rain in the country.

I am pleased to see that several lodges have picked up my challenge from last week. We have heard some wonderful stories coming in from lodges that are now resuming under our COVID-19 three stage guidelines, and it is great to see that we are all using a safe, common sense approach to resuming our masonic duties. It is important that we be alert to changing circumstances in the management of our lodges, as there are often good reasons why we need to change out WMs, office holders, and even DGIWs. There is no doubt that our jurisdiction is leading the way by implementing some quite innovative practices in conducting Installations and degree work, and while this will be improved over time, we can still only accommodate small attendance numbers.

Please remember that every business and community body is also trying to restart their activities, and this is the time for us to support them by offering our services. By strengthening our commitment in this way, and with clever use of our interACTION Grants, we can make a real difference in our community, and raise the profile of Freemasonry.

Brethren, whatever we do, we must not let our guard down. It is for each of us to show respect to the safety protocols and the local warnings identified by the Health Authorities. There is no doubt that there will be pockets of infection for some time to come, but if we all stay vigilant, we can still enjoy our Freemasonry.

Please look after yourselves and your families.

Guerie gets a facelift

VW Bro Keith Logue and VW Bro Louis Letfallah

Lodge Allan Stuart out at Guerie used the COVID-19 down time to give their lodge building a spruce up and to prepare it for Stage 3 return. The brethren pitched in cleaning, painting inside the lodge room and clearing the gutters and now look forward to a safe return to regular lodge meetings. Big thanks to the Grand Master's Task Team for the new sign!

The meeting was a 1st Degree Walkabout performed with all COVID-19 safety procedures in place and the meeting was enjoyed by all. Next month they will be doing a 2nd Degree passing, it is finally "Back to business" for Forster Great Lakes!

Stephen Dobbs takes the Chair

The brethren of Lodge Benjamin Pryor 709 at Belmont had a wonderful night recently as they held a COVID Safe Re-Installation ceremony. RW Bro Jack McNaughton represented the Grand Master as W Bro Stephen Dobbs was expertly installed into the Chair of King Solomon by VW Bro Mike Blane. The Grand Director of Ceremonies was RW Bro Peter Frame and all Stage 1, 2, & 3 COVID Safe rules were observed.

All Masonic Centres are required to register as a COVID Safe business and prepare the building in accordance with steps that will be provided to them by the Grand Secretary.

NOTE: Once all buildings have been prepared we can then move on to Stage 2.

Once all Masonic Centres have completed Stage 1 it will then be necessary for each lodge to prepare their meeting place (lodge room) in accordance with further steps provided to them by the Grand Secretary.

NOTE: When lodges have completed Stage 2 and following further directions from the Government Health Authorities we can then move on to Stage 3.

Once lodges have completed Stage 2 requirements and after ensuring we comply with all regulations directed by the authorities, the Grand Secretary will advise those lodges that they may consider their return.

NOTE: The Grand Secretary will provide further advice on any meeting restrictions that may apply as a result of further directions from the Government Health Authorities.
